Jen + Shawn | Their Story in Pictures ~ Toronto Wedding Photography

Jen and Shawn are heading off on their European honeymoon tomorrow and I really wanted to get a few photos up before they go! It was hard to narrow down some of my favourites, but I do love these ones. We also loved their rustic, outdoor photo location at the McMichael art gallery in Vaughan. We had such fun capturing their entire wedding story and can’t wait to have them over to watch their feature film and enjoy more from their photo collection. Have a great time on your honeymoon and we’ll see you guys soon!

Debbie + Cormac | All the way from Dublin to say I do !

Ahhh, Debbie and Cormac! Just saying their names puts a huge grin on my face. We first met via telephone late last summer. Debbie had found us online and called me from Ireland to tell us all about the destination wedding she was planning for April 21st. She had met and fell in love with Cormac in Toronto when he was here working for a short time and they were now planning to return to her hometown to be married. I remember how excited Debbie sounded when she called, okay most brides are excited when they are planning their wedding, but she was exceptionally so. When we met with them just a couple of months ago in person we could see the fireworks between them firsthand. Their connection was definitely something special. Their love was evident. It made us feel good when Cormac left the table for a minute and Debbie leaned over to us and said “you’re seeing the real Cormac, he’s usually pretty reserved when he meets people for the first time, but he must really be comfortable with you guys.” We talked for a couple of hours and left feeling like good friends. When Saturday arrived Brian was up at 4 am to capture the sunrise as it lit up the Toronto Skyline. We knew that incorporating elements of the city into their wedding film would be especially important to Debbie as Ireland would now be her new home and she would no doubt miss this ‘home’ and her family and friends who live here. Their entire day was ahhh-mazing. All of the hours of hard work that Debbie spent on the planning and the numerous long distance calls, skype chats and emails were certainly worth it! We know these two are in NYC right now waiting to board the cruise liner and begin their honeymoon – we hope they can find some high speed internet and enjoy their highlights before they leave. Bon voyage friends…. hope to see you again soon!

Jen + Shawn | Chateau Le Jardin

Two years ago we received this email from Jennifer. ”I have seen a SDE video of yours, through a friend on facebook, and fell in love with your work. I’ve always told my boyfriend, that when we get engaged/married, I wanted to inquire with you. My boyfriend and I just got engaged and the first thing I thought of was to contact you, and see how much of an investment it would be to have you as our videographer? What kind of packages do you have? Do you have packages for both photography and videography? We do not have a set date yet, but should have it soon (hoping by the end of this week). We have narrowed it down to 3 different times… either Sept/Oct of 2011 or April 14, 2012.”

Low and behold after spending 2 years getting to know Jen and Shawn and becoming friends, their big day finally arrived, and indeed it was to be April 14, 2012. The day was perfect! The forecast leading up to Saturday was grim, but at 7 am Saturday morning I received a text from Jen that said “I prayed so hard for no rain” and attached to the text was a screen shot of the weather network’s hourly forecast showing clouds but no rain. On my drive to see Shawn at his home in Mississauga I noticed how beautiful the sunrise was – I just knew that their day was going to be everything these two had hoped for. We had a great time with their family and wedding party – such a relaxed and fun group of people. Of course we were ecstatic to learn that their wedding colours were yellow and grey – perfectly matched to our new Love Madly branding. (Jen even texted me when we launched our new website in January to say “those are our wedding colours”). I love that she has always been so excited about our work and that the anticipation that has been building over the past two years, while her and Shawn waited for their very own SDE, was in fact everything they had imagined it to be. A separate blog post of photos from their wedding story will come soon, but for now we’d like to share this short film so they can re-live their big day over and over again!

Monica + Jordan | When you know you just know | Winona Vine Estates Wedding

When you know you just know. This simple phrase has never been more fitting than it is for Monica and Jordan. Already together for 15 years, these teenage sweethearts finally said I Do on March 24th. Their day was completely perfect. Outside it was overcast and rainy, chilly and damp, but when I walked into the kitchen of Monica’s parent’s home, where she was having her make up done, one of the first things I heard her say was “I don’t even care if it’s raining this is still going to be the best day” – and it was. Every detail of their wedding was chosen with such purpose or created by Monica herself as a reflection of who they are as a couple. Her creative side definitely flourished and her personality could be seen in so many touches throughout the day. Her dress was stunning. I love that she wore the same shoes her mom had worn on her wedding day. I love the chalkboard signs that her adorable nieces carried down the isle. I love that Jordan wrote I {heart} Mon on the soles of his shoes. Their photo location was an abandoned greenhouse about 3 minutes from the church. It made for the most unusual, yet beautiful, backdrop for their wedding photos. We had the privilege of shooting alongside Jay Perry, a long time friend of Monica and Jordan’s and an incredible local photographer. I think the highlight of their day had to be the live performance of Mon’s dad and brothers for their first dance. I could go on and on about these two and their wedding story, but I think their highlights will do a much better job than anything else I could write. I’ve known Mon for a few years now and I know how happy she is to finally be married to her long time love. We wish them so much joy and happiness. They are proof that when you know you just know.

Celebrating Happily Ever After at the Ancaster Mill

On Saturday, February 18, 2012 Andrea and Brandon’s wedding story unfolded and we were there to capture every detail, every moment, every mini-story of the day. The weather was perfect. The snow fell lightly in the morning, just enough to have to get out the shovels and clear the sidewalks and just wet enough that it made the best snowballs – the icy ones – the ones best for playing hockey with. The guys met at Brandon’s parents for a huge breakfast made by Mrs. A. The girls headed off to the salon to begin their morning of hair and make up. We planned a 3 pm reveal so Andrea and Brandon could see each other briefly just before their actual ceremony. With winter weddings, when daylight fades so quickly, it’s so nice to have a few minutes with just the bride and groom in the soft afternoon light. At exactly 3:15 it began to snow and it literally lasted only 2 minutes, but the timing was perfect. Their fireside ceremony upstairs in the old mill was beautiful and their personal vows were perfectly them. We managed to have about an hour in between the ceremony and reception and while Brian and I were capturing moments with their family and bridal party Matt was busy editing their Same Day Edit. Our inaugural Love Madly SDE showed about 9 pm and was enjoyed by everyone. Here is a photo sneak peek and their SDE.

Our Interview with Weddingbells Magazine !

Last week we were contacted by Laura Downs of Weddingbells Magazine. She asked if we would be willing to answer a few questions about some new trends in wedding videography and cinematography. We have so much to tell you about…

We’d like to thank you for checking out our new digs. Chances are you have come from facebook or twitter or have been told by a friend “OMG, Studio 67 has changed their name!!!” It’s true! After a very long 2 years of searching for the right name, a more suitable name, something that was completely “us” we finally came up with Love Madly! I’m sure to most it makes a lot of sense. To the (very) few that we did share our secret with we were elated when they said “yes, if I could describe what I see in your films and photos it would be couples who indeed love madly.” We have been so inspired by the wonderful couples who we have met and worked with over the past 3.5 years. It’s been such a journey for us; a huge learning experience, we’ve had a few ups and downs, but we’ve truly had a lot of fun! Time and time again we find ourselves drawn to couples who have amazing stories and who have such strong commitments to each other. Those couples tend to find us and we love that! We see it on their wedding day when they can’t take their eyes off one another and they seem to speak without using actual words. When they stand at the podium they can barely get any words out because they are just so filled with emotion, gratitude, passion and love for the partner they just married. These are the couples we are mad about… our storytelling is only as strong as the stories themselves! We love capturing such an amazing day in a couple’s relationship. The only thing we like better is when we sit down and re-live it with them through their feature film and photos.

So we hope you’ll have a look around. This is just the beginning of something we know will grow and change and become better with time. It’s like any brand new home – it takes time to make it everything you want it to be! We have opted to just have one ‘home’ instead of two – we have created this blogsite rather than having both a website and a blog. You’ll find useful information here plus all our recent work, updates from the studio and much more. We are so excited to finally feel like our name truly represents who we are and what we do! Please feel free to stop by often… leave a comment… and of course share our new web address with those you know who are engaged to be married!

One of our truly special couples is Marta & Brock who we first met back in 2009.

Marta and Brock’s romantic Same Day Edit remains one of our all-time, most-watched and most talked about short films.

We are so thankful to Holley Maher, an amazingly talented singer-songwriter from Nashville, who recorded Always Be a few weeks ahead of schedule, specifically for us to use in their Same Day Edit. The song truly made their story all that much stronger. Marta and Brock’s wedding was also our first published submission in Style Me Pretty . Their rainy-day images looked like french paintings and their album is still one of my very favourites!

Matching the perfect song with each of our couples is one of the most time-consuming and rewarding parts of what we do!

A vintage-inspired Vermont Wedding Story

Leah and Lorraine are two amazing women who reside in Southern California. When they became engaged they were looking for the perfect spot to hold their wedding ceremony and reception. With only a handful of states legally recognizing their same-sex union they began to research their options. After settling on Vermont they found and hired Joelle Smith from East Hill Events to help them plan their out of state wedding. Then they travelled there to check out locations in person and decide on the perfect setting for their big day. They fell in love with Juniper Hill Inn which sits on top of a mountain in Windsor, Vermont. Over 50 of their closest friends and family came from across the united states to join them and celebrate their marriage. The entire weekend was very special. They had a welcome BBQ on the Friday evening where Brian and I had a chance to meet most of the guests. The wedding day was Saturday and we began coverage when breakfast was served at 9 am. Their first look took place about 1 pm, followed by an intimate photo session about ten minutes away from the Inn. They wanted to spend some time together, alone, on their wedding day and we captured some beautiful moments between them. The ceremony was filled with personal touches; vows that made everyone giggle and cry. The details that they had worked on from their home in California and brought with them were incredible. I loved all the vintage flair in their flowers and decor and even the welcome gift bags they created for each guest had adorable tags. I could literally write pages about them and their wedding story. Instead, I will post a few of my favourite photos from their day and their highlight reel. We wish we lived closer so we could visit them often… they are amazing people and we adore them!
